MY THOUGHTS⇣
If I had read this I probably would have found it to be a tad slow...but on audio, it totally worked. This is a well-plotted and very well written story, with everything coming together perfectly by the end. Such an interesting little mystery set in small-town Georgia, that really surprised me with its genuine characters and they're true to life struggles. Overall, I believe the slowness of the story pays off because it sets up the ending smooth like molasses.
This is YA...but it also really works for adults...maybe more so than actual young adults, despite the scenes that take place in a school. Told in alternating POV's between Owen and Noah. Owen's pov is from the present and Noah's is from 1999.
The narration by Adam Verner and Stephen Dexter is very well done...with a perfect southern drawl...that you can still comprehend, even if you're not from the South. They were distinctive despite sounding alike at times. I always figured it out fairly quickly whose head I was in...even after stopping playback and coming back to it, later.
