The Nowhere Child is a missing child mystery where you know from the beginning what becomes of her...I think I was drawn to this story because of this premise...sometimes going through an entire book thinking that the child's dead body will be found rather than being found alive, can set off a queasy feeling, that never really goes away. Since you know she ended up being raised in Australia, the question is how did she end up there when she was born in America.
What ensues is a twisty, mysterious journey to find out who kidnapped Sammy Went. With unforeseen twists and amid a backdrop of a small town in Kentucky with a religious cult or Fundamentalists as they choose to be called at the forefront of the mystery. Told in alternating pov's between the past (many characters pov's) and the present (Kim/Sammy), the mystery unfolds.
My one, slightly significant issue with the story overall is with the choice to have only one narrator. Katherine Littrell does an adequate performance for the part of Kim...but as for the rest of the characters her Aussie accent tended to come through and lessened my enjoyment of the Audio overall.
