I'm not gonna lie, this book is chocked full of Hockey, everything in this town centers around Hockey.  Despite that...this book has some of the best character development ever.  The people of Beartown feel as familiar to me as the Doctor's on Greys Anatomy do, and I've seen every episode.  I felt their laughter, their pain, their indecision and sadly, even their prejudice.  It all felt so real and believable, kind of just like a television show that's been on for fifteen seasons, can.  I highly recommend.  If you feel like maybe you can deal with all the hockey-ness going on, you should give this a try because ultimately, there is a deeply affecting story within.

Marin Ireland's narration is wonderfully done.  Being inside the head of so many different characters isn't usually done very well by one person, but she pulled it off.  She also makes all that hockey-ness easier to get through.
