MY REVIEW IN ONE SENTENCE⇢ This is your run-of-the-mill delusional serial killer mystery...one that makes young girls his target.
I feel like this series should be called something other than The Collector...The butterfly collector is in jail and near-death after the first book, also he is relegated to a side character and a small one at that. Calling this series that name just leads you to believe the series is centered around that. When in truth, the butterflies, their captor, and his son's are just mentioned in this book and kind of made the beginning of this book confusing for me. These books actually follow the Crimes Against Children Unit of the FBI (Hanoverian, Eddison, Ramirez & Sterling), and that's what the series should have been called.
Since I read the first book in this series a couple years ago, I was lost for a bit. From the mentions of the butterflies, Eddison's connection to the MC Priya, and the small parts from the POV of the killer (who was narrated by the same narrator as Eddison was), I had a difficult time sorting it all out. I actually thought Priya's sister was killed by the Butterfly Collector for a bit, I did eventually get it all sorted out, though, especially since the story starts to focus on catching the serial killer that actually killed Priya's Sister and his other victims.
The narration was decently performed by both narrators. Will Damron has never disappointed me and Siiri Scott is new to me, and she was pretty good. My only qualm is they should have had a separate person for the voice of the serial killer...it was disconcerting and a little confusing to have him have the same voice as Agent Eddison.
