    MY THOUGHTS

MY REVIEW IN ONE SENTENCE:  This is a story that tries to hard to be everything relevant and timely and ultimately suffers some from having too many elements at play.

The synopsis makes you think this is going to be a book about preppers and the end of the world...I think if you go into this knowing that it isn't about the latter but does focus on a group of preppers living in a commune that feels somewhat like a cult, maybe you'll like it better.  Each chapter is labeled with a new prepper acronym like EDC (everyday carry), SHTF (shit hits the fan) and TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) to name a few.  Getting an inside look at what it's like to be a prepper was one of the more fascinating aspects of this story...it's too bad that there were so many other components clogging this up.

While the many elements left me confused at times, I was still invested in the story and wanted to see how it would end.  Although, I wish that the author wouldn't have used this as a veiled political platform.  I get enough of that on Facebook...I would be curious to know what the count would be for how many times "our current POTUS" comes up in this book.

The narration was as always with both these narrators very well performed and they definitely boosted the overall rating of this for me.
